Tailgating hated by most motorists
Tailgating is the most despised driving habit among British motorists, with two-thirds revealing their annoyance at vehicles getting too close to their bumper.
The survey, carried out by Kwik-Fit, reveals the top ten most-hated bad habits of drivers, with failing to indicate coming a close second and dangerous overtaking deplored by more than half of those questioned.
Jumping traffic lights and hogging the middle lane completed the top five, with last-minute braking, undertaking and moving away slowly from traffic lights also making the list.
"Many accidents are caused by aggressive driving - whether it's people driving too close to the car in front, dangerous overtaking or jumping traffic lights," commented David White, customer services director at Kwik-Fit,
"Motorists need to remember that these aren't just annoying, they put the safety of all road users at risk."
Safer motoring urges drivers not to let other road users annoy them or encourage them to imitate dangerous actions.
