Prices announced for Passat CC
Friday, 09 May 2008 16:04
Volkswagen hope the Passat CC can create a new niche market for the company
Volkswagen has revealed the price plan for its new coupe, the Passat CC, which will be available to order from retailers across the UK from May 16th.
The entry-level CC will cost £21,040 on the road, with prices rising to £31,120 for the range-topping 3.6-litre V6 300 PS.
Volkswagen is hoping to open up a new market niche and strengthen the company's range of models in the hotly-contested B-segment. VW are also hoping to appeal to both private and fleet buyers with the new model.
Two trim levels are available, standard CC and GT. The basic models boast sports suspension, 17-inch Phoenix alloy wheels, 2Zone Climatronic air conditioning, touchscreen CD stereo system with six-disc autochanger, six-way electrically adjustable sports seats, a multifunction leather steering wheel, six airbags and ESP.
The GT trim adds 18-inch Interlagos alloy wheels, silversprint upholstery, tinted windows and front foglights as well as, for the first time on a Volkswagen, Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC).
Three engines are available at launch - two petrol and one diesel. Petrol options include the 1.8-litre TSI unit, developing 160 PS and 184 lbs/ft of torque, linked to a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.
The other petrol option is a 3.6-litre V6 FSI with 300 PS and 258 lbs/ft of torque, channelled via 4Motion four-wheel drive and DSG gearbox.
A common rail 2.0-litre diesel engine is also offered at launch, joined in September by a 170 PS version of the same powerplant. An additional 2.0-litre petrol unit will become available at this time as well.
Park Assist, Lane Assist and Automatic Distance Control are also on offer, previously seen before on VW's Phaeton and Touareg luxury vehicles.
