Corsa tops the list
Vauxhall has been named the leading brand for new car registrations in the UK for the second time in three months.

The figures, released today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), found four Vauxhall models, the Corsa, Astra, Insignia and Zafira, featured in the UK's top ten best-selling cars, with the Corsa proving the most popular with 2,856 sales out of the total 9,372 Vauxhalls sold.

In what is traditionally one of the quietest months of the year for car sales, 1,247 Insignias were sold, despite the car only being dealer launched seven weeks ago. This brings the total for the model this year to 3,523.

Andy Gilson, Vauxhall's marketing director, said: "This is proof, if proof were needed, that the Vauxhall brand is as strong as ever in the British car market, and we're looking forward to a busy March now that the new '09' plate is with us."

Vauxhall has now received more than 15,000 orders for the Insignia, accounting for half of its sales projection this year.
