Massive Vauxhall recall announced
Vauxhall has announced a recall of over 300,000 vehicles after safety issues were raised.

Some 355,000 Corsa C generation three and five-door models built between 2004 and 2006 and Combo van and Tigra models built between 2004 and 2006 have all been recalled.

This is to allow the British manufacturer to repair the ABS brake control unit on the vehicles.

Earlier in 2007 Vauxhall completed an investigation into fires in the previous generation of Corsa and its derivative vehicles.

These investigations confirmed vehicles which had previously undergone a recall rectification of the engine wiring harness now have an extremely low risk of what the company is calling a "thermal incident".

In a statement the company said: "The safety and quality of Vauxhall products remains the company's highest priority, it therefore considers any fault unacceptable.

"Upon further technical evaluation and additional testing it was determined new components were required, including an ABS control unit and cover assembly.

"These new components are now available and Vauxhall is launching a recall in line with Vehicle and Operator Safety Agency (VOSA) guidelines."

Drivers will be contacted by letter from December 14th, allowing the company to begin a phased recall of the vehicles affected.

The new three and five-door Corsa D models introduced in 2006 are not affected by this action.
