New Porsche presented at LA show
Porsche has launched a new hybrid vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The LA show has already provided numerous glimpses into the future, with new vehicles from Ferrari and Audi being presented - and now Porsche has stepped up to offer their vision of tomorrow.
The Cayenne Hybrid prototype combines superior efficiency with equally evolved driving dynamics to create a future-oriented vehicle.
Key to the design, however, is the car's power source.
The new Cayenne is based on a much earlier prototype, the electric-drive Lohner-Porsche, which was originally launched at the Paris Fair in 1900.
The Lohner-Porsche was the vehicle which first broke the fledgling company, winning international acclaim, and was one of the first zero emission cars in the world - and consequently an inspiration for the contemporary model.
For the contemporary Cayenne, Porsche has developed the full-parallel-hybrid system which combines both electric and petrol sources as part of a drive to reduce emissions.
The new vehicle is capable of 30 mpg and has an electric motor and clutch which are integrated within the drivetrain - thus causing fewer conflicts with the car's all-wheel-drive capabilities and interior space.
Equally important attributes of the new model are designed to maintain the ambitious standards of vehicle weight and driving dynamics, which help differentiate a Porsche from its rivals.
