Mercedes-Benz today revealed a substantial revamping of its successful M-Class series.
The SUV now has a wide range of new characteristics, with a sportier look. The front end of the off-roader is defined by a redesigned bumper, recontoured headlamps and a larger, more dominant radiator.
The rear features a new-look bumper with integrated reflector strips, emphasizing the vehicle’s width, along with smoked-glass tail lights.
The interior of the vehicle is enhanced by a two-tone colour scheme and high-grade materials. The door centre panel is now trimmed in Artico man-made leather and the seats have a sportier design, with the potential for a four-way lumbar support upgrade.
The technical specs for the M-Class have also been fine-tuned. Retaining the anticipatory occupant protection system Pre-Safe and Neck-Pro head restraints, the new design also includes a new telematics system.
Integrated features include a hands-free system based on Bluetooth technology and an aux-in connection for mobile audio devices (such as an iPod, which can also be charged while connected).
The new media interface enables music tracks to be shown in the instrument cluster and the colour display in the centre console, accessed using buttons on the steering wheel.
The ML 63 AMG model has received special front and rear aprons with a chromed underguard, plus a larger AMG radiator grille. The engine has a maximum output of 510hp at 6800 rpm, producing 630nm of torque at 5200rpm from a displacement of 6208cc. The vehicle accelerates from 0-62mph in five seconds exactly, with a top speed of 155mph.
Since the second-generation M-Class was launched in April 2005, 300,000 units have delivered to customers around the world, 13,000 of which reside in the UK.
