Mazda's European sales soar

Mazda have confirmed a rise in European sales of 32 per cent during February.

The company sold a total of 27,300 units, a rise of 6,600 over 2007, to record their highest February result in 17 years.

Mazda executives are understandably pleased with this substantial increase, putting them on course for an significantly profitable fiscal year. Two counties (the UK and Portugal) reported record unit deliveries for the period, with a further 18 proclaiming general sales increases.

Greece saw a 77 per cent rise, recording its seventh consecutive month of double or triple-digit growth, while Spain saw near-record performance.

Germany (up 65 per cent), Austria (up 29 per cent), Norway (up 31 per cent) and the Netherlands (up 46 per cent) also all had significant increases in sales.

Ireland saw 819 units delivered (up 22 per cent), while Russia had 5,700 units (up 75 per cent), setting a record for February sales in the country. Mazda's Czech Republic and Slovakia organisation reported impressive growth of 120 per cent compared to February 2007.
