Audi unveils SST price plan
The new 272PS TTS, the first Audi TT to sport the evocative 'S' insignia - denoting enhanced performance - is now available to order in coupe and roadster forms.
The coupe model is priced at £33,380 on-the-road while the roadster is slightly more at £35,380 on-the-road.
Both are equipped with either a standard six-speed manual gearbox or the option, at an additional £1,400, of the acclaimed Audi S tronic twin-clutch transmission.
This, the most extreme Audi TT the company claims to have produced to date, will reach its first UK customers in the summer of 2008.
It is powered by an extensively revised 2.0-litre turbo-charged and directly fuel-injected petrol engine which already powers the TT.
The changes have enabled the engines power to be boosted from 200PS to 272PS and its torque from 280Nm to 350Nm, available between 2,500 and 5,000rpm.
With the six-speed manual transmission, the TTS coupe can power from rest to 62mph in just 5.4 seconds, and on the autobahn it can carry on to a top speed of 155mph before the limiter intervenes.
The optional 'S' tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission reduces acceleration times by a further two-tenths of a second in both the coupe and roadster.
On the exterior, the newly designed bi-xenon headlamps incorporate Audi LED strip daytime running lights, along with a redesigned front apron incorporating larger air intakes and aluminium-look door mirror housings.
Inside, two-tone leather sports seats, exclusive 'S' instruments with white needles, metal pedals and special aluminium trim elements enhance the sports interior.
