Audi reveals A4 Avant
Audi has released details of the new estate version of the A4, the Avant.

The vehicle, which is likely to come with a premium of around £1,200 on the saloon equivalent, has the longest in class wheel base and is set to offer drivers unrivalled load carrying capacity.

It has a 430 litre load bay with the new, reconfigured suspension set-up, as well as a versatile reversible load floor.

The Avant also comes with a choice of either SE or more sporting S line specification options, and with five state-of-the-art FSI direct petrol injection and common rail piezo TDI engines.

The initial range will take in the 160PS 1.8 Turbo FSI four-cylinder, the 265PS 3.2-litre V6 FSI, the 143PS 2.0-litre TDI, the 190PS 2.7-litre TDI and the 240PS three-litre TDI.

There will be the option of the latest six-speed manual gearbox, a revised, faster-shifting six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission or an updated version of the ultra-efficient multitronic continuously variable automatic transmission.

Finally, the vehicle is ten per cent lighter than its predecessor, despite being 120mm longer.

The new Audi A4 Avant is expected to be available in March.
