Alfa set to unleash 8C Spider

Alfa Romeo has unveiled plans to reveal its 8C Spider supercar at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.

The car is one of 41 models Alfa will have for sale in the UK market this year, but the new 8C Spider is among the most exciting.

The supercar has the same 4.7 litre V8 as the 8C coupe under the bonnet, capable producing 450bhp - all of which is channelled through a sophisticated six-speed F1-style paddle shift gearbox to the rear wheels.

Inside the carbon-fibre cockpit, a dashboard-mounted button effortlessly transforms the cosseted cabin of the Alfa 8C Spider into a sublime open top GT cruiser.

However, flexible though it is, the roof is constructed from two layers of fabric, and creates a perfectly weatherproof, acoustically comfortable passenger environment.

For added individuality, the roof can also be personalised in various colours to suit the body colour of the vehicle.

The new model will be limited to just 500 units, all of which are expected to be sold within a few weeks of its official unveiling.
