Consumer opinion had a lot of impact on Subaru's redesign of the Tribeca
Subaru have revealed details of the new 2008 Tribeca, praising the input of consumers in the luxury SUV segment for their help in defining the new design.

A new, larger displacement 3.6-litre H6 engine, powerful new styling and improved performance and fuel efficiency have made the new 2008 Tribeca a more exciting proposition for buyers.

The new exterior design features a wider, taller grille, new front fenders and a fresh hood design. The grille is now integrated into the front bumper, with a new chrome spread-wing design.

To give the Tribeca a wider visual appearance, a raised hood line, deeper front valance and new headlamps have been introduced.

Venturing inside, new buyers will discover a second-row seat with tilt-and-slide control on both the driver and passenger side, with an assist spring to reduce the effort needed. Moulded assist grab handles on the lower C-pillar ease the step into the third row.

A sophisticated twin cockpit design features a flowing, sculpted dash with centre console design. Aluminium-look trim, electroluminescent dials, ambient interior lighting all add to the feel of the interior.

The centre console is dominated by an information centre that groups readouts for the audio system, clock, fuel economy and outside temperature.

The seven-inch touch screen information centre is included as standard, with easy-to-use audio and climate control system controls located just below it.

The Tribeca is available as a seven passenger model, with standard 50/50 split fold-down third-row seat with integrated headrests and carpeted back surface. An auxiliary rear cabin air conditioner with fan speed control adds to the comfort of those stuck in the back.

For those concerned about safety, the Tribeca features a ring-shaped reinforcement frame structure, occupant-sensing, dual-stage driver and passenger airbags, seat-mounted side impact and standard curtain side airbags.

Brake Assist is included in the standard ABS brake system, with Vehicle Dynamics Control and four-wheel traction control. Brake Assist analyses the force and stroke on the brake pedal, increasing hydraulic boost to provide enhanced emergency braking. It also activates the ABS system early, if needed.
