BMW releases details regarding new Alpina
Tuesday, 05 Aug 2008 13:15
The Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo will be achieve just over 50 miles per gallon
BMW has released more details regarding the new Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo coupe, revealing that its 'added lightness' allows the car to achieve 50 miles per gallon.
The Alpina's 'power-to-weight' ratio is what BMW is highlighting as the major selling point.
Engineers have taken the twin turbo diesel engine from BMW's 123d and increased the power to 214 hp.
This, says BMW, makes it produce more horsepower per litre than any other engine in a current BMW or BMW Alpina road car.
The Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo coupe will be priced at £32,950 for the manual gearbox version, with the automatic one coming in at £34,540.
It is capable of a top speed of 152 miles per hour, going from zero to 62 mph in 6.9 seconds.
The manual version produces 143 g/km of CO2 (148 for the automatic) and has a miles per gallon value of 52.3 (50.4 for the automatic).
