VX Racing driver, Matt Neal, was recently challenged to help with a world record attempt.

Matt is currently leader of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).

The attempt will be revealed on Sky One's Guinness World Records Smashed!, on Sunday June 21st at 20:00.

The attempt was a straightforward race lap, with Neal a passenger in a dual-control Corsa SXi, with presenters Steve Jones and Konnie Huq taking turns in the drivers seat. Matt controlled the brake and the clutch, with the presenters steering and accelerating their way around the Bedford Autodrome race track.

"I was a bit apprehensive," said Matt before the record attempt, "but by the end of the day I was feeling a lot more comfortable as a passenger.

"The presenters each had completely different driving styles. Steve was very smooth while Konnie was more on the wild side and both were surprisingly quick. Not having complete control of the car was pretty nerve-wracking for me, but once we'd completed a few laps I started to relax."

The challenge for the two pairs was a record attempt for the 'Fastest lap of a one-mile course in a dual control car'.

"You'll have to wait until the programme airs to find out whether we achieved a new record. However, I can confirm that I survived the attempt and the Corsa wasn't damaged!" concluded Matt.
