MOT letter mishap revealed by RMIF

MOT testing stations may well have received the wrong assessment letters recently
Thousands of MOT testing stations subject to a recent government appraisal have been mistakenly sent the wrong results, it was revealed today by the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF).
19,000 UK vehicle testing stations (VTS) have been assessed over the last few months and years by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA). Each station is to receive a letter indicating their risk category and score.
Unfortunately, according to Stephen Coles, head of the RMIF's MOT operations team, there has been a slight cock-up with this system.
"Regrettably the VTS details and risk score have been found to be incorrect on a number of letters," Mr Coles said.
"VOSA have stated that any VTS receiving a letter dated May 28th, 2008, with reference numbers IB/C661, IB/C662 or IB/C663, should ignore and destroy this communication. The correct letter will be sent to them in due course.
"'VOSA say that they are looking into the cause of these errors and they hope to be in a position to correctly re-issue the letters later this week."
RMIF members that are concerned about the mistake are advised to contact the MOT operations team.
