Peugeot 207 does well in safety test
Monday, 23 Jun 2008 12:48
The Peugeot 207 Coupe Cabriolet has proved successful in a number of European safety tests, especially when put through simulated roll-over conditions
Many drivers who have ever owned a cabriolet will have thought about safety issues and how the car would protect them in the event of an accident.
The modern Peugeot cabriolets have also come under such scrutiny, although a set of tests conducted by the German Automobile Club proved they can handle themselves well in a simulated 'roll-over' situation.
Of the three cars tested, the Peugeot 207 CC came away with the highest safety scores, demonstrating superior strength and resistance to damage.
The roll-over protection bars in the 207 CC are controlled by an electronic sensor, which measures the angle and speed of rotation of the vehicle.
Once a roll-over situation is detected, the rear protection bars are extended automatically by 200 mm in 175 milliseconds. The raised rear protection bars create a protective survival zone shielding the vehicle occupants.
Standard fitment of ABS, EBFD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) and EBA (Emergency Braking Assist) on all models helps lift safety scores as well.
ESP is also fitted as standard on all GT versions. This is combined with a driver’s SMART front airbag, passenger SMART airbag, side/head airbags, pretensioning and force limiting front seatbelts and three point ISOFIX child seat mountings on the front passenger seat.
The Peugeot 207 CC is available in two trim levels, Sport and GT, and the range starts from £15,195 on-the-road.
