Shooting brake - it's more than a fancy name for an estate car (or station wagon, for our American and Australian friends). This body shape can be surprisingly sexy and if anyone can give the shooting brake added sauce, it has to be Mercedes.
Mercedes-AMG has announced the latest performance car - the big yet still stunning CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake - a car with all the hair-raising performance of the AMG line-up with a body shape that appeals to many a car design geek (not to mention surfers and people who need somewhere to put a pram but still want to drive like the proverbial bat out of hell...).
Powered by a 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine with 557bhp, it is also kitted out with the AMG Speedshift seven-speed sports gearbox, sports suspension and AMG Ride Control.
Inside, there's 1,550 litres of load space - so it's practical as well as speedy (as well as being a fine way to help a friend move house - because you know that's what's going
to happen once you buy one of these bad boys).
In case you're bothered by your carbon footprint, it comes with an ECO stop-start function. But what's more interesting is the 155mph top speed, a 0-62mph stat of 4.4 seconds and max torque of 516lb-ft of torque.
And in the meantime, we can sit back and take in the pictures while we eagerly await UK prices. The global roll-out of this beast starts in November.
