The new Land Rover Defender XTech specials, in Orkney Grey or Nara Bronze

By

We’ve seen some rather yummy Land Rover Defender specials – see Related Stories, below - recently here at TotallyMotor. The classic-looking Defender gets makeover modifications from many an aftermarket customiser all over the world. Many are a hit; some are a bit miss, but these Land Rover factory specials certainly look the part so far, and it’s all engineered in house by the Land Rover team.

Fans of army-style-tough will no doubt be interested in these £27,995 Defender XTech specials, that go on sale in the UK in July. The most obvious exterior delights are the utilitarian paint jobs; Orkney Grey or the XTech-only Nara Bronze. Both of these more menacing shades sit over blacked-out 16-inch Saw Tooth alloys, wrapped in MTE off-road-ready tyres.

It’s the same beefy Defender underneath the dress-up parts with a 2.2-litre turbodiesel motor taking care of all sorts of haul it and crawl it high-torque business, and there's the usual long-travel suspension that bullies potholes in its lunch hour.

Over the new Defender XTech’s skin we see a contrasting Santorini Black roof to bring out the best in the grey or bronze body paint below, with the wide wheel arch trims and chequer plate along the bumpers and sills also finished in the black paint.

A special ‘Defender’ decal sits above the rear LED lights whilst the headlights are highlighted - if that’s the right word? - with the same Santorini Black on the trim surrounds. The meaner front-end also gets a body colour front grille and gloss black Land Rover lettering on the bonnet. Out back, we see a new rear step bumper assembly to help with the in and the out of things.

Inside there’s some special, too, with an Ebony part leather interior coming with either the Orkney Grey and Nara Bronze outer paint, with contrasting Lunar stitching to the cow-skin. The Land Rover logo is embossed on the front headrests and the carpet floor mats have the Defender logo woven in. No muddy boots then, please!

Standard kit on the new Defender XTech Special Edition includes air conditioning, electronic traction control, central locking with remote control and heated seats and windscreen. The Defender XTech Special Edition goes on sale from July, starting at £27,995.
