Skoda Citigo

The new Skoda Citigo is on sale now, priced from £7,630. Perfect for some around town nipping

Its starting price is just £7,630 but Skoda is clearly making money off reasonably priced cars as they have nabbed big-voiced pop star Anastacia for their latest ad campaign. It's the all-new Skoda Citigo, it's on sale now and there are three levels of trim to choose from - and it has scored a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

It's a cute city car with a 1.0-litre engine and the choice of 60bhp or 75bhp as well as the option of Skoda's GreenTech fuel-saving system which includes a stop-start function and brake energy recuperation. This system is promising a pleasingly miserly combined fuel consumption of 68.9mpg and CO2 emissions at 96g/km.

A new five-speed manual transmission is standard with the option of an automatic box on certain models. There are three levels of trim, S, SE and Elegance, and plenty of options to make this city car far from basic.

As well as the automatic transmission, other options include the Personal Infotainment Device (PID, to its mates...) which has a touch-screen offering Bluetooth, sat-nav and trip data. The £7,630 is for the basic three-door manual while opting for five doors adds just £350 to the pricetag.

It's also the first Skoda to wear the new winged arrow design badge, another sign that Skoda is moving on from the dark days of such models as the Favorit. And a good thing too!
