Volkswagen will start production of the Amarok, a mid-sized double-cab pickup from its Hanover factor from next month. Two years on from its launch, the Hanover factory is slated to produce 40,000 Amaroks a year for the Eastern and Western European and African markets.
Meanwhile, the Pacheco factory in Argentina will produce Amaroks for the Latin America and South American markets.
The Hanover plant has been home to the Volkswagen Transporter, Caravelle, Multivan and California models, as well as thousands of iconic Beetles, and the addition of the Amarok to the production line will secure thousands of jobs in the Lower Saxony region.
The German location of the factory will mean shorter delivery times across Europe, so hopefully that will mean plenty of plucky pickups on British shores soon.
