The R Line Vee-Dubs have a reputation for being rather special cars indeed and the latest model to get the R Line badge, the Polo, should be no exception. This one builds on the specs of the Polo Match with some spruced-up styling and a peppy engine.
There's just the one engine on offer - a 1.2-litre 105 PS TSI petrol unit mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. It'll get you from 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds and top speed is 118mph. Combined fuel consumption is a rather respectable 53.3 mpg and CO2 emissions are 124g/km.
Outside, there lines are clearly sportier than the Polo Match, the radiator grille is in black gloss and it sits atop 16-inch Mallory alloy wheels. The windows behind the B-pillar are tinted and the front foglights have a static cornering function.
Step inside and you'll find the scuff plates are in brushed aluminium, there are cloth sports seats, the R Line logo on the headrests, a leather steering wheel, black cloth roof lining and aluminium-capped pedals.
There's some pretty good kit as standard too - a radio/CD player and connectivity for your iPod plus six speakers from which to enjoy the tunes, semi-automatic air-conditioning, multifunction trip computer, electric windows, height adjustable front seats, heated electric wing mirrors, vanity mirrors, reading lights front and back, tyre pressure monitor and remote central locking.
It's available now for order with deliveries expected in July. It is priced at £15,195 OTR for the three-door version and £15,815 for the five-door.
