The new BMW M3 Frozen Silver Edition does its best to entice buyers with extra kit offered at a lower price

BMW’s performance-obsessive M Division are celebrating 40 years of going faster this year, and in generous spirit they’re dishing out some extra goodies on this latest M3 special edition, the BMW M3 Coupe Frozen Silver Edition, with only 100 coming to the UK. However, power remains the same at 420bhp, via the usual 7-speed M DCT transmission and variable M differential, top speed is still limited to 155mph, and 62mph arrives in the original 4.6secs. In short, all the extras are outside and in, but not under the skin.

Looks-wise, the new BMW M3 Coupe Frozen Silver Edition sits an appealing 10mm lower on its apex-ready suspension, which features 3-stage Electronic Damper Control to suit the driver’s mood and the road or track surface, 19-inch light alloy wheels finished in matt black, and a revised DSC+ system.

However, the extra cash is mostly spent in the styling department with this car’s brand new Frozen Silver metallic paint job, Dark Chrome exhaust pipe-trims, side gills and front grille kidney surrounds, and Jet Black bonnet intakes. Pulling all of these bodyshell highlights together is a High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim.

Further driver treats are in store inside with the usual M3 interior pleasantries enhanced with Black Novillo leather seating with contrasting stitching, and Palladium leather armrests and inserts. The steering wheel is wrapped in grippy Alcantara and gets its own M3 chequered flag motif, as do the door sill covers. There’s also plenty of carbon fibre inside and that all-important plaque to remind those that aren’t in the M3 special edition know.

The silver-surfing new M3 goes on sale in the UK from 1 June, with numbers limited to 100.
