Yes, it's called the Dacia Duster. While naming a car after something feathery that more commonly used to spruce up the wooden surfaces around the house, the Dacia Duster could well prove a popular little SUV amongst bargain-hunting drivers. Order books will be open on June 28 and customers can nab their Duster with a £100 at www.dacia.co.uk before deliveries commence in January next year. Prices start at less than £10,000 with 4x4 variants available from less than £12,500.
So what is this new fangled Duster? It's a compact SUV that Dacia hopes will help revive its fortunes across Europe. Customers will be able to configure their car online at the Dacia website before letting the dealer know their preferred specs. The design is chunky with a raised ride height, chrome front grille and double optic headlights. Accessories available as options include wheel arch extenders, door protectors and chrome styling bars,
As well as promising bona fide off-road chops from the 4x4 models, Dacia is also selling the promise of practicality. They all seat five people and have up to 475 litres of boot space and with the back seat down, this goes up to 1,636 litres. Fold down the front seat and objects 2.65m long can also be transported.
Interested people can sign up for updates with no obligation to order at www.dacia.co.uk and naturally, pre-launch news can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/daciauk. Or you could just do it old school and give them a bell on 0800 99 11 99.
