The all-new Hyundai Santa Fe SUV is wearing its sharpest suit ever!

The Hyundai Santa Fe from South Korea has achieved worldwide cumulative sales of over 2.5 million units, and more than 350,000 in Europe, since its debut in 2000. Not a bad sales tally at all, and by the looks of these first reveal pics from the show floor of the New York Motor Show, the company has made a big push on design and engineering for their third, all-new Santa Fe.

I think it’s fair to say that it’s a handsome chap, and if the price is right and it drives well and delivers the right economy levels, then there’s surely more respectable sales figures to come, when UK sales start around the summertime of this year.

Hyundai’s popular SUV has been extensively restyled inside and out and features new and re-tuned engines with improved efficiency. It’s also been set up for the European market to better suit us demanding Euro drivers.

A choice of three powertrain options will be available to European buyers on launch, including a new, efficient Euro 6-compliant 2-litre “R” VGT diesel engine that produces 150PS, and emits 155g/km of CO2. The 2.2-litre diesel motor has been retuned for better efficiency and is said by the brand to one of the cleanest in the segment with CO2 emissions of 145 g/km.

The company hopes that their latest Santa Fe will appeal to new consumers from a wider demographic range, including some owners of premium-brand SUVs. That could be described as a pretty ask, but so far so good on the styling front; with UK-roads test drives to be the final deal-clincher.
