BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe

BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is BMW's first ever 4-door coupe. And it's a big ol' brute!

The BMW stand at the Geneva Motor Show promises to be a busy one with four world premieres, and the chance to get a good look at some other fine innovations from Bavaria.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, the brand's first four-door coupe, will be revealed. It promises loads of space with 1,265 litres of luggage capacity when the back seats are folded down. It's powered by a 313bhp or 320bhp twin-turbo, six-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed sports automatic transmission with automatic engine start-stop function. And if that's not enough poke for you, there's an eight-cylinder model, the 450bhp BMW 650i Gran Coupe, available with the all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive.

M fans will be keeping their eyes peeled for the BMW M6 Coupe with a revvy 560bhp V8 engine. This one has a seven-speed transmission, a 0-62mph spring of just 4.2 seconds, a 30% improvement on fuel economy from the predecessor and it's all wrapped up in a sporty, saucy two-door body with plenty of carbon fibre to keep it supermodel slight but strong as Rocky.

There's also a whole new product category debuting in Geneva, the BMW M Performance automobiles. There'll be four new models under this category - the BMW M550d xDrive, BMW M550d xDrive Touring, BMW X5 M50d and BMW X6 M50d. All are powered by an in-line six-cylinder diesel with 381bhp and an astounding 546lb-ft of torque, with an eight-speed sports automatic transmission, along with all-wheel drive xDrive and modified suspension. The promise is agility in the bigger X Series body.

And speaking of the X Series motors, Geneva will also be the scene of the world premiere of the new-look BMW X6 with funky new radiator grille, higher fog lights and LED rear lights. Options include adaptive LED headlights and the addition of the line of the M Sport Edition, starring 20-inch bi-colour light alloy rims and an engine compartment lid with a powerdome.

Other attractions on the stand include the new BMW 3 Series sedan, a twin-turbo with two 4-cylinder diesel engines (on 116bhp and one 143bhp) and a 184bhp four-cylinder petrol engine on display. It will also feature the introduction of the intelligent all-wheel drive system xDrive for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan. The BMW ActiveHybrid 3 will also be on show before it goes into production.

Another green highlight will be the 125i, 125d and 116d EfficientDynamics Edition. The 116d EfficientDynamics has CO2 emissions of just 99g/km. We'll also get another peek at two BMW concept cars at Geneva, the i3 and i8. The i3 is a premium electric car, expected to go into production next year, and the i8 is a new-generation plug-in hybrid sports car.
