New Ferrari California dreaming at Geneva

Ferrari California

The Ferrari California has been revised for sharper handling and speed, with less weight and suspension and engine tweaks. Goodbye hairdo!

Ferrari will be launching the latest version of the California at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The V8 stunner has already gone into production with a 30kg weight loss, 490bhp and 372lb-ft of torque courtesy of new exhaust manifolds and engine mapping. The Maranello boffins promise that it will be as rigid as ever with performance rather glorious - 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds. Perfect for summer (we're optimistic, we feel it's warming up already here) with the retractable hardtop.

An optional "Handling Speciale" package (we think that means "Special handling" but we're no experts...) has been developed with mods to the suspension to minimise body roll and make the car more responsive to driver input. This package includes special dampers running Ferrari software, stiffer springs and smaller steering wheel angles with a new steering box with a 10% quicker steering ratio.

It comes as no surprise that this one looks luscious on the outside, features two-tone finishes, a three-layer paint job and a range of updates on the classic colour schemes so the car can be personalised. Prices haven't yet been announced but it's one of those things whereby if you need to ask, you probably can't afford it (but will probably appreciate the seven-year standard maintenance programme anyway - even Ferrari owners need to watch the pennies these days).

First deliveries are scheduled for Europe so here's hoping we'll see a few on the roads very soon.
