Fiat Panda at very bearable prices

The 2012 Fiat Panda limbos under the £9k entry-level price barrier. And that's just gggrrreat!
At the end of this month, the new Fiat Panda goes on sale in the UK and it promises to be one of the most competitively priced new cars on the market. More than six million of these little crackers have been sold worldwide and the trend looks set to continue.
The OTR starting price is just £8,900 for the 1.2-litre 69bhp Pop model. Even the range-topping variant is still good value for money. Priced at £12,250 OTR, the 1.3-litre 75bhp MultiJet 2 turbo includes air-conditioning, roof rails, a stop-start function and alloy wheels. The third engine on offer is the 85bhp 0.9-litre TwinAir and the trim levels are Pop, Easy and the lush-sounding Lounge.
The entry-level Pop trim includes electric windows, central locking, electric power steering, four airbags and body colour bumpers. At the mid-level, the Easy trim adds remote central locking, air conditioning, roof rails and an improved audio system, while Lounge adds heated electric mirrors, 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, body coloured mirrors and door handles, and side mouldings. Options includes traction control, roof rails and black pastel paint. There are 10 exterior colours and six interior/dashboard combinations on offer.
Safety options include six airbags, double seatbelt pretensioners, an active anti-whiplash head restraint system, traction control and, for the first time, a Low Speed Collision Mitigation system. This uses a laser sensor on the windscreen to scan in front of the vehicle to determine the risk of a collision. It is can automatically activate emergency braking at speeds less than 18.6mph.
The frugal little Fiat engines have been a massive success in the 500 models and at these prices, we'll probably see a lot more Pandas roaming the streets too.
