Video: Toyota GT 86 just in time for summer

We love a good, fun, sporty Toyota - indeed, your correspondent was bitterly disappointed sometime in about 1994 when she missed out on owning a cherry red 1975 Celica in mint condition. But now she can start saving her pennies because Toyota has announced the pricetag on the much-anticipated GT 86, an all-new sports coupe.

The starting price is £24,995 OTR and it goes on sale in the UK in June. More details will be announced closer to the launch date but in the meantime, we can tell you it's a front-engine, rear-wheel drive car that impressed at last year's Tokyo Motor Show.

It's powered by a 2.0-litre flat four boxer engine with 197bhp mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. A limited slip diff sends power to the rear wheels while maintaining a strong grip on the tarmac,
