Ford's new B-Max makes its public debut at Geneva in March, and features the company's latest eco-tech, including the new 1-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that gives 123bhp and 58.9mpg
It's hard to put a finger on exactly what Ford's new B-Max reminds us of, a fact they should really be congratulated for.
There's a bit of Fiesta and Focus but it looks like the S-Max and the Galaxy too. It's all of them and none of them at the same time. Ford have taken the small car concept and applied big car design to create something rather exciting, at least to those of us who live in a city and have children, and that's a lot of us.
When it's revealed at Geneva in April, all the industry talk is going to be about practicality - the way the new door design incorporates the central pillar to ease access, the flexible seating and useable load space - and economy with its clever little 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that gives 123bhp and 58.9mpg.
When it's released in the Ford dealerships in September the talk amongst customers will be same with the addition of, how have Ford managed to do it again? Say what you like about them being "mass-market", all the buyer cares about is that Ford produce good cars that don't cost too much - and Ford really do produce some very good cars, just look at the B-Max.
