Potent Audi engine for executive models

The Audi A6 Avant now gets all the diesel juice it can handle - 309bhp and a staggering 479 lb-ft of torque, to be precise
Audi's most powerful V6 TDI engine will now be available on executive class models, the A6 Saloon, Avant, allroad quattro and A7 Sportback ranges.
How powerful you ask? Well, it's a biturbo diesel engine and it pumps out 309bhp and a staggering 479 lb-ft of torque. The A6 Saloon does 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds. The A7 Sportback variant does the sprint on 5.3 seconds. Not bad at all for a diesel.
And because the German automaker knows that all good petrolheads like their cars to make a nice noise, they're hoping that the sound actuator in the exhaust system will offer a sports car exhaust note that may turn them into committed dieselheads. This actuator essentially consists of a speaker which imposes a defined oscillation pattern on the exhaust flow - in other words, it won't sound like a diesel and it may indeed fool even the most trained ear.
Naturally, Audi haven't sacrificed on standard kit which includes sat nav linked to a 6.5-inch retractable colour monitor, Milano leather upholstery and the Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system which controls throttle response, gearshifts and steering feel. So you don't bump into a bollard, there's the Audi parking system as well as light and rain sensors, cruise control and keyless engine ignition.
All models in this line-up have CO2 emissions of 169g/km, combined fuel economy of 44.1mpg, an eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. The range is priced from £43,810 OTR to £53,435 OTR.
