2012 Fiat Punto

The refreshed-for-2012 Fiat Punto range brings serious choice to your nearest Fiat dealer. Not least in the greener engines department

Fiat has announced prices for its 23-variant, three-trim-level 2012 Fiat Punto line-up. The three trim levels will be Pop, the base version, Easy for the mid-range cars and Lounge at the high end. Prices will range from a rather keen £9,990 OTR for the Pop 1.2-litre 8-valve, now on sale, up to £15,600 for the top-level Lounge 1.3-litre MultiJet variant.

The top-level Lounge includes automatic dual zone climate control, leather steering wheel, front fog lamps, seven airbags, cruise control, ambient interior lighting and electric sunroof as standard.

There will be a shedload of Euro 5-compliant engines on offer, all fitted with a stop-start function as standard and a TwinAir version coming onto the UK market in April. Two engines will be all new - an 85bhp MultiJet diesel as well as the TwinAir. Other engines will be a 1.2-litre 69bhp, a 1.4-litre 77bhp, two 1.4-litre 16-valve MultiAir petrol engines with 105bhp and 135bhp, a 0.9-litre TwinAir petrol engine with 85bhp and two 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engines with 75bhp and 85bhp.

The 2012 range has a few new styling upgrades such as colour-coded front and rear bumpers and three new exterior colours - Brit Pop Blue, Tango Red and Underground Grey. Inside, there are new seat fabrics and dashboard inserts and remote central locking, electric front windows, driver and passenger airbags, window airbags, radio/CD/MP3 player, electric power steering and height adjustable driver seat standard across the whole range.

In the middle of the range, the Easy trim level adds a leather steering wheel, 15-inch alloy wheels, and air conditioning, while the Lounge models get climate control, front fog lamps, cruise control, ambient interior lighting and electric sunroof.

Just in time for the Olympics, there will be a sports version of the Easy level called GBT, a collaboration between Fiat UK and British Cycling. Stay tuned for more news on what that one will involve - we're hoping for a bike racks. What we can tell you is that the GBT trim will include sport suspension, rear spoiler and side skirts.
