New Hyundai i30 keeps emissions low

The Hyundai i30 goes on sale in March and promises to deliver some impressive economy figures. How does up to 76.3mpg grab you?
It has been a busy week for the UK compact car market with a new Volkswagen up! on the scene and Toyota announcing that the iQ can be customised with leather and decals. Now we have the announcement of a new Hyundai i30, on sale in the UK from March 12.
Blue Drive, Hyundai's eco-friendly technologies, mean that the 1.6-litre 126bhp diesel manual has CO2 emissions of just 97g/km and fuel economy up to 76.3mpg. The Blue Drive technologies include a stop-start function. There is also a 108bhp diesel engine on offer.
There will be four levels of trim, Classic, Active, Style and Style Nav, as well as a choice of petrol and diesel engines and manual or automatic transmissions. Standard features include voice-activated Bluetooth. LED daytime running lights, multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors and one-touch indicators. Safety features included across the whole range include Vehicle Stability Management, Emergency Stop Signal and Hill-start Assist Control.
The Active trim level includes 15-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, rear parking sensors and Hyundai’s new Flex Steer system, offering three settings: Comfort, Normal and Sport.
On the Style models, you'll find 16-inch alloy wheels, dual zone climate control, front parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, cornering lights, automatic headlights, automatic de-fog system for front windscreen and electrically folding door mirrors with LED indicators. At the top of the range is Style Nav which adds a touchscreen satellite navigation system and rear view parking camera.
Prices start at £14,495 OTR for the five-door hatchback and insurance ratings start in the very affordable Group 7E. The top level of trim will set you back £20,295 OTR.
