At over £62k, you'll be wanting to keep your new, 2012 Toyota Land Cruiser V8 a tad cleaner than this!
The new, 2012 Toyota Land Cruiser V8 must be all but bursting with comfy stuff and off-road tech; the single model tips the quite serious scales at £62,285, when it goes on sale from 1 March. No confusing trim and engine choices, just one big, comfy new cruiser with a 4.5-litre, V8 turbodiesel motor that thumps out a hefty 650Nm of torque between 1600 and 2800rpm, and 268bhp.
It does all of this while meeting the latest Euro 5 engine cleanliness standards, thanks to the addition of a diesel particulate filter and new fuel injectors in the common rail diesel system. Hooked up to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, this tugboat-terroriser of an engine should see the big ol’ Cruiser ploughing its way to the top of many a mountain. And there’s plenty of nice, new bling to try not to scuff on your way to the top.
The 2012 Land Cruiser V8 gets a new front end dominated by a new-look bumper, front grille and foglights, plus new high-intensity discharge headlights that also feature fashionable LED daytime running lights.
You’ll also spot new black roof rails, side mouldings with chrome detailing and distinctly pimp new-design 20-inch alloys. The taillights have also been refreshed and LEDs also added to the indicators in the door mirrors.
Wrapped around all of this tough-comfy-love are eight exterior colours – not all at once - including two shades new to the model range; Pearl White and Pure White. A couple of monochromes to entice our friends in the Arabian desert that love a Land Cruiser, and love ‘em in white, alright!
Slide into Land Cruiser’s vast interior and you’ll be happy to find – depending on the weather that day – heating or cooling at the touch of a button for the front seats, as well as a central cool box, heated steering wheel and a general spruce-up to all things trim, fit and finish. No muddy dogs in this 4x4, thank you.
Techno-wise, it’s a similar upgraded story with Land Cruiser V8’s adoption of Toyota’s new Touch Pro multimedia and navigation system that features a digital tuner, Bluetooth and rear-view camera, all controlled via an 8-inch touchscreen colour screen. No jammy kid’s fingers on there, please.
The captain of this swanky new mud-slinging ship pilots some impressive-sounding off-road hardware, including a world’s first Turn Assist system that reduces the vehicle’s turning radius when driving through tight off-road bends, Crawl Control with five speed settings for tackling steep climbs or descents, Multi-terrain Select with five selectable modes to tailor vehicle performance to different off-road conditions, and Multi-terrain Monitor that provides a 360-degree view of the area around the vehicle via four external cameras. Perfect for spotting those dirty dogs and sticky kids as they approach your rough, tough new palace on wheels!
