Fisker Karma

The Fisker Karma, an altogether greener supercar, is on show in Harrods right now. Gift-wrapped in your choice of colours!

Could getting your hands on the world's first plug-in hybrid luxury car be as simple as a trip to Harrods? Provided your bank balance is up to the task - the pricetag is around the £67,000 mark - there will be a Fisker Karma on display in Harrods until February 4.

The famous Brompton Road department store, currently holding its winter sales, will have the car on display and Henrik Fisker, CEO of Fisker Automotive, hopes that the well-heeled shoppers will be keen to check out the clean, green machine. Prospective customers, who tend to come from all over the world to shop at Harrods, will be connected with international dealers for test drives. As well as taking a good look at the vehicle in the shop, keen car fans will also be able to virtually configure their dream Karma.

The Karma can go from 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds, was given a CO2 emissions rating of 51g/km and has a fuel economy equivalency rating of 112mpg. It can run on the electric motor alone for around 50 miles, making it a very city-friendly car - and it's congestion charge exempt, definitely a bonus for London motorists.

Most of us will just be swinging by Harrods to take a look at the Karma but given some of the fine motors we frequently spot around Knightsbridge, it's clear that even in these recessionary times, there are still plenty of people about with cash to splash on innovative cars such as this one.
