The 485bhp Nissan Juke-R. What's not to like?!
So they’ve built it, and now they’ve tested it. The Nissan Juke-R, the GT-R-powered super-crossover has had its twin-turbo’d neck rung for the sake of science, and the results are as delicious as they sound in this snorty video. That’s 160mph and a warping 62mph dash of just 3.7secs. Excellent!
Made (or should that be mad?) in the UK; developed by Nissan and built by motorsporters RML, we’ve watched with kiddie-at-Christmas-like-joy as the matt-black, wide, low and mean Juke-R has taken demonic shape over 22 weeks of video updates.
At the heart of this bulging black beauty is the GT-R powerplant; a 485bhp, 3.8-litre, twin-turbo V6, hooked up still to the GT-R’s all-wheel drive system and, thankfully, the GT-R’s mighty brakes and race-ready suspension, too.
Juke-R’s bodywork has been beefed up in all the right places with bulges, extra aero, and tasty wide arches wrapped around the GT-R’s 20-inch RAYS alloys all bringing the menace by the bucket load. Your average Nissan Juke is a friendly-looking chap, but not anymore!
Inside we see GT-R’s dash and Space Shuttle-esque instruments; all with needles that quickly fire into the red-fast-bit, as well as race-spec rollcage – for chassis-stiffening and safety – plus OMP front bucket seats and the GT-R’s all singing 7-inch touch-screen techno-display. Although, in a crossover that packs this much wallop, it’s probably wise to keep your eyes on the road.
Nissan released plenty of update videos during the 22 week build project, so all you engineering fans can get a good look at as to how you can squeeze banzai performance into the cuddly Juke package. Basically, it ain’t easy. Take a look for yourself at www.youtube.com/user/NissanJuke
