More Toyotas made in Britain

A hot Toyota recently
Again, we at TotallyMotor are delighted to share some good news for the UK economy with the announcement that all new C-segment Toyota hatchbacks will be made at the Burnaston plant in Derbyshire. The huge production volumes - including hybrid, petrol and diesel models - means up to 1,500 new jobs over the next two years with a mass hire of 500 happening in the middle of next year.
The C-segment hatchback market is a very important one for the UK and Europe and Toyota’s execs say the vote of confidence in the Burnaston plant is thanks to the high quality workmanship that rolls off the production line.
In a pioneering move for British industry, the factory has the UK’s largest industrial solar panel array which produces up to 4.6 million kWh of energy (even in the often grey climate here), which is enough to build 7,000 cars. The factory also throws zero waste into landfill. This is indeed very fitting as the factory is where the Toyota Auris Hybrid is built. It’s the first full hybrid car to be built in Europe and it’s proudly made right here.
