Alfa 4C turns up the heat for Frankfurt

The Alfa 4C storms another motor show, this time at Frankfurt in September. She's looking gorgeous as usual, but when will they build it?
It was a battle of the beauty-titans at the Geneva Motor Show this April gone by, with the slinky Alfa 4C sportscar concept vying for public and press attention with the ruggedly handsome Range Rover Evoque. I think the erotic 4C just about piped the baby Range in the web-ripples stakes, and Alfa look to keep those fancy-circles expanding through September’s Frankfurt Motor Show with this extra jazzy new 4C on display.
In between shows, and thanks to the public affection for the new retro- and emotions-inspired Alfa, the famous Italian brand have been busy with their hot show star, stating that the concept has been “refined and enriched with technical contents to enhance the dynamic excellence.” Kerb weight is confirmed at around 850kg, and with the 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine delivering more than 200bhp, we end up with a decidely pleasant power to weight ratio of less than 4kg per horsepower to pull it.
As we know, she’s a two-seater, rear-wheel drive coupe with a mid-mounted engine; a length of approximately 4 metres and a wheelbase of less than 2.4 metres. All compact curves; light on its feet, with technology and materials derived from the uber-expensive 8C Competizione - that’s plenty of carbon-fibre and aluminium, basically.
Unlike the Range Rover Evoque, the Alfa 4C is yet to roll off the production line, but with a photogenic metallic-magnet like this on their show stand, Alfa Romeo are very likely to once again enjoy top billing with car fans. All they need to do now is build it!
