More solid styling moves from Hyundai

Hyundai i30

The new Hyundai i30 looks good on paper so far. If the price and drive are right then this curvy looker could indeed steal some sales from the established European brands

“Fluidic sculpture” is what Hyundai are calling the curves and creases that roll from every angle of this rendering of their new i30 small family car. It’s certainly got a current and car-fashionable look to it, along the same styling lines as the new Ford Focus and Astra GTC.

Hyundai are clearly keeping their foot on the gas when it comes to grabbing an ever bigger slice of the European smaller car market. Let’s see if it looks this well-sorted when it goes on show at Frankfurt in September.

The all-new i30 was designed and engineered at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany, and represents the next evolution of the company’s “fluidic sculpture” design language.

Thomas Bürkle, Chief Designer, Hyundai Motor Europe commented: “When designing the new i30, we used strong, fluid lines to sculpt a car which looks athletic while exuding a sense of constant motion, even when stationary. From the rendering, you can see how we managed to give the car a bold stance, transmitting a confident attitude through sporty characteristics and dynamic proportions. In this way, the car is very close to the recently unveiled i40, and we want people to recognise the Hyundai design DNA on those two models.”

Well, the talk has been talked and we’ll have to see for ourselves what price cmes out in the wash for the i30, and if the price is right and the drive is right, Hyundai could do well with this up-to-date looker.
