New Seat Leon FR+

There’s been some extra cherries sprinkled on the Seat Leon cake with the announcement of a new higher spec Leon FR+, available from dealers now, with prices starting at £22,615.

The FR+ builds on the FR trim and adds bigger 18-inch “Ibera” alloy wheels, Seat’s Media System 2.2, which includes sat-nav with 5-inch colour touchscreen and dynamic route guidance, DAB radio, Bluetooth audio streaming and SD card slot, Bluetooth phone connection, Bi-xenon headlights with AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) and front parking sensors, on top of the usual FR trim.

Standard trim in the FR features FR front and rear bumpers, twin-exit chrome exhaust pipe, silver-painted door mirrors, LED rear-light clusters, FR sports seats and steering wheel, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and auto-dimming rear-view mirror. FR is now also offered with a 1.4 TSI 125PS petrol (manual only) or 2.0 TDI CR 140PS (manual and DSG), for more frugal running costs. 

Engine-wise for your FR+ and there’s a choice of either a 2.0 TSI 211PS petrol or a 2.0 TDI CR 170PS diesel, powering the front wheels through either manual of DSG gearboxes. 

Steve Robertson, SEAT UK’s Head of Marketing, said: “The Leon FR has been an important mainstay of the SEAT line-up for some time, so it clearly makes sense to maximise its appeal.”

And the tastiest Leon cherry of them all is the 155mph Cupra R halo model that now benefits from refreshed standard kit to the tune of Seat’s Media System 2.2, Bluetooth connectivity, Bi-xenon headlights with AFS and LED taillight clusters.

This extra equipment is valued at £1,665 but there has been no increase in the 265PS Cupra R’s price. In fact, the price of Seat’s most potent production car to date – we’ve driven one briefly and it’s rather spicy - has been reduced by £10, to £25,995, while the FR range now starts at £18,205 for the FR 1.4 TSI 125PS, rising to £22,615 for the FR+ 2.0 TDI CR DSG-auto 170PS.
