The Renault Wind Roadster gets the blue and white stripped Gordini treatment and a thankfully quick-closing roof
Renault continues its tradition of quirkily named cars with the unveiling of the top-of-the-range Gordini version of the Wind Roadster, perfect while this unseasonable summer weather lasts.
Priced from £15,195, the Gordini has a 1.6-litre or 1.2-litre engine and comes in the trademark Malta Blue metallic with two sexy white stripes. Or for no extra cost, Pearl Black and Glacier White are the other options. Then there are other nice touches such as 17-inchalloy wheels with a polished face and gloss black inserts.
Inside the Gordini versions, there is a cockpit-style cabin with blue and dark grey leather seats, the embossed Gordini logo, a numbered plaque (they’re only making 200 of them) plus a satin-chrome effect gearknob with blue Gordini badge and blue gearstick surround.
Naturally, there’s the expected Bluetooth connectivity, climate control, a multi-functional TunePoint for USB connections and a Thatcham category 1 alarm.
Further upgrades include a Renaultsport exhaust for £450 for the 1.6-litre version, 1`7-inch alloys with blue inserts plus a £200 wind deflector.
If the budget doesn’t stretch quite that far, there are the newly reduced Dynamique and GT Line versions of this coupe Roadster starting at £12,995.
The good news is that if this wonderful weather comes to an end (and we all know it will), the roof closes in just 12 seconds.
