i-MiEV: the e-car that can be e-customised

Bespoke cars aren’t just for the super-rich - Paris Hilton got away with an epic style fail when she customised her way into a pink Bentley but we would like to think the readers of TotallyMotor have more taste. While most of us can’t afford a bespoke Bentley any time soon, Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV electric car might be more like it.

In keeping with the car being electric, customers can now electronically choose accessories with a new website. You’ll still have to pick it up from one of the 13 sales centres that sell it, but you can make it uniquely yours without getting off the sofa.

Via the website, there is a wide range of special touches and trims to order such as graphics, four funky body colours, a better sound system, leather interior, a high-tech suede called Alston and eco-friendly accessories such as plant resin floor mats.

There are two option packs which offer a range of new additions at a set price. The Tamashii pack gives you leather on the seats, dashboard, steering wheel and gear knob, a partial vehicle wrap and the plant resin mats. This pack will add £2,999.99 to the price.

The Sugata pack will make the e-MiEV seem faster than it probably is with a high-gloss tailgate spoiler, sports alloys, leather dashboard, steering wheel and gear knob, partial body wrap and, yes, you guessed it, the plant resin mats. All this will add £2,499.99 to the price.

Techy upgrades that can also be ordered online include an iPod/radio connection with a three-inch screen for an additional £399.99. Multi-media sat nav with a seven-inch screen, DVD player, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, reversing camera and pre-set London charging points can be yours for £1,799.99.
