Peugeot 308 at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Some exterior refreshing, but look under the new Peugeot 308's bonnet for even more frugal performance

With 900,000 Peugeot 308s already sold, prior to this model tweak, Peugeot could’ve taken a bit of a rest on their laurels with the merest of lip service facelifts.

But not so. While there are new cosmetics to this 2011 Geneva Motor Show 308 – that will apply to the Hatchback, CC and SW - such as sharper-lined LED headlights and LED running lights, the more eco-attractive changes are under the hood in the engine bay; a place where Peugeot are constantly pushing ahead.

The new 308 gets a 98g/km engine; right on the best-edge of current CO2 top targets, as well as an option to have Peugeot's innovative micro-hybrid e-HDi stop & start technology.

There’s isn’t much out there to rival the frugal 308 for the right price, so let’s see what the new Ford Focus brings to the eco-table.
