Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Months of waiting and speculating is now over, and looking at these images I think every Lamborghini-lover will be breathing a sigh of happiness at the stunning, yet not too revolutionary, new halo Lambo

Goodbye Murcielago, hello Aventador. The slightly silly names continue, but, thankfully, so does the pure power, performance and auto-theatrics.

The all-new Lamborghini Aventador (“one who dares”) has finally been photographed in the carbonfibre-flesh at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so no more speculation as to how it will look and how powerful it will be. These questions have been floating around the web for too long.

So here she is. More of an evolution of the Murcielago than a full-on revolution; but if it ain’t really broke…

Yes, the big M had been around for a while and Lambo needed a new halo car, but with so much love and respect for the Murcielago, Lamborghini were clearly quite keen to keep the familiar and evocative DNA flowing through the new car.

Razor-sharp, Reventon-faced, covered under and over in carbonfibre, and packing a mid-mount, 6.5-litre V12 monster-motor growling-out 690bhp. All the Lambo good stuff is present and correct, including the whopping 217mph top speed. 62mph comes in a blinking 2.9secs.

All we need now to complete a great day in petrol-paradise is to hear that V12 rev and roar in anger. I can feel the spinal shiver starting…
