Renault has confirmed several new price reductions for its cars in January 2011 in the face of the upcoming VAT rise.

Customers will be able to profit from discounts on a number of vehicles, such as the Clio Expression 1.2 16V 75, Grand Scenic Expression TCe 130 and the Megane Coupe Dynaminique TomTom 1.4 TCe.

The Megane Coupe can be bought for £1,060 less than its normal price, while the Clio Expression will be discounted by £790. In addition, the Scenic Expression Model will see its price cut by £370.

These new prices will take effect from January 4th and include the new 20 per cent VAT rate. Renualt has claimed that the sales will be "welcome news" for bargain hunting buyers.

This news comes after Citroen confirmed that its C-Zero all-electric car will benefit from the government's new electric vehicle grant, affording customers a £5,000 discount off its list price.

Linda Jackson, Citroen UK's managing director, said: "A comfortable, economical and practical mode of transport for town and city drivers, C-Zero is one of the first truly viable solutions for the future of urban motoring."
