The 2010 Top Gear Awards: winners list

You might have noticed our reports on a couple of Top Gear award winners, namely the Citroen DS3 as Car of the Year (read HERE) and the Peugeot RCZ as Coupe of the Year (read HERE).

Well here's a little round-up of the other winners in the more real-world categories of Hot Hatch of the Year, Family Car of the Year and Engine of the Year. There were some mega-car back-pats awarded too, but the name of the winning hyper-super-monster-car was too wide to fit the screen.

Hot Hatch of the Year - the Volkwagen Golf R. Here's what the magazine said: "It's difficult to know where to start in praising this car, because it's extraordinarily good at so many things..."

Family Car of the Year - the BMW 520d Touring. Here's what the magazine said: "If the 520d Touring were to put an advert on a dating website, potential prospects would think it a liar. It offers such a comprehensive set of interlocking genius that it sounds too good to be true..."

Engine of the Year - the Fiat Twin Air. Here's what the mag said: "A little bundle of energy, charm and downright saintliness to prove our good old friend the gasoline engine is still alive and very much kicking..."
