The Vauxhall Antara SUV has been treated to a new look both inside and out, ready to go on sale before the year is out, and with a starting price under £20,000 for the first time - close to £3,000 less than the previous model.

Buyers wanting the new Antara will be paying £19,995 for a 2.2 CDTi Exclusive front-wheel-drive model. While still immediately recognisable as a Vauxhall, the car has a brand new front grille and distinctive new Griffin logo, paired with fog lights and chrome bezels on special edition models.

Additionally, 19inch alloy wheels will give the Antara a more "aggressive" style, Vauxhall added, and modified rear lights add a more robust appearance to the back of the vehicle.

Peter Hope, Vauxhall's marketing director, said: "At less than £20,000, the new Antara is set to be highly competitive in today's SUV market. Its lower emissions, higher output diesel engines and refreshed design will offer renewed appeal to both retail and fleet customers."

In response to hazardous winter conditions, Vauxhall this month released its "highly-effective" Snow Socks, a set of easy-fit tyre covers to help cars get you out of slippery situations in snow and ice.
