Volkswagen to offer BlueMotion technology on Scirocco and Passat CC models

Volkswagen has extended the use of its trademark BlueMotion technology so that the carbon efficiency benefits can now be experienced by Scirocco and Passat CC drivers.

The latest version of these models will receive BlueMotion modifications, including regenerative braking/battery regeneration, abd stop/start technology.

Entry level and GT trim Scirocco models will be fitted with the 2.0-litre 140 PS engine or TDI 170 PS engine for the GT, available with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG gearbox.

The latest Passat CC models featuring BlueMotion will replace the current diesel models in the range, which VW confirm will give the newer cars fuel efficiency of 60.1mpg and cut CO2 emissions by 20g/km.

This news comes after it emerged that Volkswagen is set to invest £51.6 billion over the next five years, with a particular focus on developing improved environmental technologies.

Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft chairman of the board Martin Winterkorn said: "The Volkswagen Group will help shape the technological turning point in key areas of the automotive industry and, to do this, will continue investing in environmentally friendly technologies, efficient drives and new models."
