The new Range Rover Evoque 5-door - one of the stars of the Los Angeles Auto Show this November

The annual Los Angeles Auto Show is in full swing at the Los Angeles Convention Centre and there's been some interesting unveilings and introductions so far. Now it's a bit of a trip for us Brits, so to save you the airfare we've rounded-up some pics of the stars of the show, both conceptually and reality.

Most of the big and exciting news is at the more performance end of the spectrum - isn't it always - with a new Subaru Impreza, a convertible Camaro and Porsche's new Cayman R. But, as electric vehicles really start to become a reality and hybrids get more and more budget-friendly, the LA show has rightly shone the spotlight here, too. Here's our TotallyMotor round-up of the weird, wonderful and soon to be real.

The Chevrolet Camaro Convertible - a modern day muscle car but now with added sunshine and breeze, and extra audible V8 beat

The rear view will be only view for most that come across the hot Camaro

The Jaguar C-X75 concept - built to celebrate Jag's 75th anniversary and featuring four electric motors, one in each wheel, that produce 195bhp each, backed up by two micro-gas turbines that charge the batteries. The C-X75 can apparently hit 205mph and will have a range of 560miles. It has a look of the XJ220 about it, although it does manage to make Jag's old supercar look rather out of date. Time waits for no cat

Subaru Impreza design concept - it's just a concept right now, but the general wave of appreciation that's sweeping the Internet could encourage the Japanese manufacturer to build a potential new World Rally Champion. It seems that going back to the saloon style, after the universal turned-up noses at the hatchbacks, is just what true-blue Impreza fans wanted, and it's these car-buying fans that Subaru must please

Toyota RAV4 EV (electric vehicle) - Toyota plan to build 35 of these electric RAV4s to go through an evaluation program throughout 2011, with plans for the fully-engineered vehicle to take to the streets in 2012. The target range will be 100miles, which for most journeys is plenty, but is it even vaguely intended to venture off-road?

Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet - it was only a matter of time before someone somewhere took the roof off a crossover, a combination of SUV and car, and Nissan got to the chop first. There's a certain romance about convertible motoring, but on first view, this Murano looks about as romantic as a dinner date at a burger van

Saab 9-4X - another crossover, this time from Saab. We've seen it before, but it's interesting to see how it sits alongside the Murano CrossCabriolet (above) and the Range Rover Evoque (below). In its own spotlight it's pretty and chunky enough, but next to the Evoque it's already starting to look a touch behind the style times

Range Rover Evoque 5-door - one of the big stars of the show, the 5-door Evoque is already whetting appetites across Europe and Range Rover have smartly decided to let the Americans take a long, close look, too. With economical engine options and 5-door practicality, the Yanks could have their SUV cake that they enjoy so much

Porsche Cayman R - Cayman owners wanted something with a little more bite and Porsche have obliged with the Cayman R. The grippy, mid-engine coupe gets 330bhp, 10bhp more than the Cayman S, weighs 55kg less at 1295kg and sits an appealing 20mm lower. All of these boostings and shavings pay-back some decent performance figures, with the R-car hitting 62mph in a touch under 4.7secs and topping out at a heady 175mph. The neighbours will be green with envy

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid - now, something a little more real-world from Hyundai; an affordable hybrid for the mass market. While prices have yet to be confirmed for the brand's first hybrid car, as a value brand, you'd expect it to comfortably undercut the mid-size saloon competition. Hyundai expects the Sonata Hybrid to achieve 37mpg in the city and 39mpg on the motorway. Looks pretty funky, too

Cadillac ULC concept - now for something a little more other worldly; the Cadillac ULC or Urban Luxury Concept. Not what you'd expect from the Cadillac brand; huge and covered in chrome is more the norm, but this little wedge promises frugal motoring for four passengers. Built on a short, 250cm wheelbase, the ULC is powered by a hybrid system that mixes a 1-litre, turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with GM's 'electric assist' technology, stop-start and regenerative brakes. Cadillac projects 56mpg in the city and 65mpg on the motorway. It certainly looks the part with scissor doors, big 19inch wheels and tiny windows, but that's not the most practical combination for planet Earth
