Katie Melua named as the new brand ambassador for Vauxhall
Singer and songwriter Katie Melua has become Vauxhall's new brand ambassador in a push to make people aware of the new offerings the company has for the UK market.
The collaboration between the world-famous artist and the car manufacturer will coincide with Melua's 50-city European tour in 2011 and the Ampera will accompany the singer throughout the entire course of the trip.
Vauxhall's announcement was made during an exclusive press conference and live performance, also available on webcast, at Air Studios in London.
Marketing director at Vauxhall Peter Hope said: "We are thrilled to be working with Katie. Vauxhall is all about being British, forward thinking and energetic, and we think Katie embodies these values perfectly.
"In addition, we are passionate about consistent environmental awareness and social responsibility; as a subject very close to Katie's heart, it only makes the partnership more fitting."
Melua was also pleased, noting that both environmental efficiency and sustainability are close to her heart so it was an easy decision to make.
Production at Vauxhall's Luton factory passed a major milestone this month after the 750,000th Vivaro van came off the production line.
