An intensive study that has concluded on the future strategy for Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that a "landmark" pay and conditions settlement has been reached between unions and the company.

These unions representing the Jaguar Land Rover workforce will now unanimously recommend their members agree to the deal, which secures the manufacturing operations of the organisation in the UK.

Jaguar Land Rover will retain three of its plants in the UK, namely those in Castle Bromwich, Solihull and Halewood, building vehicles for both car companies represented by the firm.

Thousands of new jobs will also be created over the next ten years as Jaguar Land Rover invests billions of pounds to significantly increase the number of models in its range.

Jaguar Land Rover chief executive officer Dr Ralf Speth said: "This is a triumph for all concerned. We have ambitious plans for growth and the success of our products around the world and this agreement will allow us to accelerate and realise those plans."

Last month, the company announced that it would be looking for over 1,000 engineers, supervisors and production operators to support the manufacturing of all new Range Rover Evoques.
