The new Volkswagen Amarok has been honoured at the inaugural International Pick-up Awards for 2011.
The new Volkswagen Amarok has been honoured with a gong - the inaugural International Pick-up Awards for 2011.
VW gratefully accepted the honour, which was judged by a highly-regarded panel that represented 23 countries as part of the popular and well-known International Van of the Year awards.
The Amarok was particularly praised by the jury for its "effortless" off-road skills while also receiving a doffed cap for its on-road strengths, being saluted as best-in-class for this aspect.
Furthermore, the jury was impressed with the Amarok's interior, particularly the layout and generous space for front and rear passengers in the patented double cabin.
The jury said of their decision: "The new Volkswagen Amarok distinguishes itself by fantastic driving qualities, both on and off-road. It sets new standards in the pick-up category in respect to load capacity, payload, interior room, comfort, ergonomics and fuel consumption."
This month, the judges of the Fleet Van Awards 2010 gave their top award of Fleet Van Manufacturer of the Year to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, claiming that it offers the "best brand value for UK fleets".
